Dish with floral still life in blue and yellow

JVV 0589

Delft, circa 1650 -1670

The deep dish has a narrow, flat flange and is painted with a floral still life in blue with yellow accents. A bottle vase with two tulips, a peony and leafy branches is in the centre. The bottle vase is decorated with a garland around the belly. Behind the vase are two pots filled with flowers and leafy branches. The right, baluster-shaped, pot is painted with a whimsical floral decoration, the left, spherical, pot with yellow circles in a cartouche. The vase and the pots are set on a ground with flowers. A bird, butterfly and insect fly in the air. The scene is framed in a double circle on the flange.

Dimensions: diameter 34 cm / 13.38 in.

Provenance: private collection Hessen, Germany
