Explanatory note
Rocky landscapes featuring peacocks and other birds were originally derived from Chinese porcelain and were frequently produced in Delft and other manufacturing centres during the second half of the seventeenth century. This design was used at the Meissen porcelain factory around 1720–1725 for the earliest pieces of underglaze blue porcelain.
